Guidance on facilitating a
BD Natters Monthly Meet-up
Thanks for facilitating our upcoming Monthly Meet-up! Here are some important details.
What is a BD Natters?
This is an opportunity each month for BD Matters members to ask questions, listen, learn, and vent! They can bring anything they want to discuss such as:
A big pitch that they’ve got coming up and want some advice
They want to discuss what's working (and what's not)
They have an approach they want to try but not sure how to implement it and want to know about other’s experiences about it
They need a recommendation on tools or processes that would make their life easier
We encourage BD Matters members to join and put their questions forward to the community because we're in it together. 💪
Your role as a Facilitator 😎
The key to successful facilitation is asking questions and keeping the conversation flowing smoothly.
We aim to have two facilitators but this may not always be the case.
There will always be a host, often that’s BD Matters Founder & MD, Adam Graham.
At the start 👋🏼
Adam will do a short intro into BD Matters and Monthly Meet-ups.
He’ll then hand it over to you to introduce yourself.
Once you’ve introduced yourself, please ask everyone else to introduce themselves too and share either a key challenge they’re facing, or something great that has happened professionally.
We recommend you nominate someone to start, and encourage them to nominate another when they’re done.
As we go around, we advise facilitators to take notes on what’s being shared (challenge/ accomplishment) as we’ll address them in the next section.
What’s next❓
Once everyone’s introduced themselves, we’ll look to address their challenges. If there are more than 12 attendees, we may break out into 2 breakout rooms. You’ll facilitate one, and the other facilitator will facilitate the other. BD Matters will create the breakout rooms in the session, you do NOT need to worry about this.
Start with the meatiest topic first. You can group issues as some challenges may overlap.
It's a good idea to prepare two or three questions beforehand just in case the conversation runs dry.
If people are not participating, it's important to encourage them to share their thoughts.
Closing ⏰
Around 10 minutes before we end, please ask if anyone has any additional challenges they'd like to share.
Adam will wrap up the session with an outro.
Finally, we will be sending a follow-up email to all attendees with valuable resources and information.
Joining on the day 📅
Here’s the joining link for our Monthly Meet-up: http://bit.ly/3Hh6Hs9
The link is the same for facilitators and attendees and there are a few short details to fill in when joining.
Please arrive 5 minutes before the event so we can sound check and get settled in together.
We’d really appreciate it if your zoom display name includes your first name and your organisation:

Basic guidelines:
Please ensure:
💡 You’re in a well-lit room so that we can see your awesome face
📷 Your camera frames your face without cutting parts off.
👀 👂🏻 Your background isn’t distracting and/or noisy.
📶 You have a strong internet connection.
🎤 Your sound works well. We recommend keeping a pair of headphones nearby. Sometimes, they prove an easy fix to sound problems.
We’re looking forward to it!
